BORDER SAGA CONTINUES!!!!
Today, Michael Chertoff (Director of Homeland Security) announced that discussions are under way on ways to stop US companies from hiring illegal aliens.
Of course there are already laws on the books against hiring illegals, however MANY companies break those laws, because lets face it, they rarely, if ever, get caught, and when they are caught, they recieve fines, that ultimately amount to nothing with the big ass bank accounts they hold!!!!
Wal-marts is a good example of this.....They have been in trouble several times over the hiring of illegal workers, but they still do it don't they!!
Employers can use govt. assistance (a program called SAVE) to check whether or not a potential worker is eligible to work in the US. However this is a voluntary program at present.
Mr. Chertoff, says the govt. is now discussing whether or not to make THAT mandatory!!!...I say, enough with discussions, commitees, sub-commitees, etc..... JUST DO IT!!!!!
Mr. Chertoff also says the border security issue is a top priority for his office and for the white house!!
Yeah right,.... The ONLY reason they are discussing it at all, is because of the attention the minutemen have put on the situation!!!
The Bush Administration does NOT support building a wall along the US / Mexican border for the following 3 reasons according to Mr. Chertoff.
1. Building a wall would cost a "phenomenal" amount of money.
...........So fucking what!!!!.....We throw away phenomenal amounts of money every year!!!!..... For example, If we stopped throwing away money to Africa for just 1 year, we could build a fence around the entire damn country!!!
2. A wall would not be very effective anyway.
...........Bullshit!!! if we put up a very large wall and topped it with razor wire, sensors, and border guards, and then let it be known that those who try to cross it WOULD BE SHOT, it would be extremely effective!!!
I mean hell when I spent time down on the Arizona border, just a few of us, with guns on our laps, cut the illegal crossings in our little 23 mile section by 96%.
3. We would still need to use various technological resourses as well as man power.
............Well no shit Sherlock!!!....... And as we are the most technilogically advanced country in the world, and we have MANY people who need jobs in this country, I am afraid I don't see the problem here!!!!
Mr. Chertoff did go on to say that more border guards are being hired and that the govt. is taking border security very seriously.
However, I highly doubt they would be taking any of it seriously had it not been for the minutemen pointing out to America just how prevalent the illegal problem is, therefore I must conclude that they are now simply trying to cover their asses!!!
Now don't get me wrong, I am a very strong Bush supporter but when it comes to keeping our borders secure he has failed miserably, but then again so has EVERY other administration, both democrats and republicans, since before I was born!
Also Corporate America must be held highly accountable for the illegal problems we have here in the US,..They tell us that the US needs illegal workers because "Americans" don't want to do the kinds of jobs that the illegals are hired to do!!
The part of that sentence they always forget to add is.....Americans don't want to do those kind of jobs...for the lousy wages employers want to pay!!... (sometimes as little as $2 an hour).
Also corporate America has fought very hard over the years to keep the govt. from enforcing the laws, already on the books, that state employers can NOT hire an illegal alien!!!!
Corporate America is killing us......they hire illegals to do the jobs here in America, and at the same time, "outsource" MANY jobs overseas. India being the prime recipient at present!!!!
And go to any store USA and look at the labels of products you see....a VAST majority of them say..."MADE IN CHINA".
These are just 2 small examples of what amounts to the murder of the middle class in the USA.
The gap between the rich and poor is growing wider every year, with the middle class disappearing right before our eyes, and a society without a middle class is doomed to fail!!!!
The blame can be laid squarely on the shoulders of corporate America, who care for nothing but their bottom line, and our own govt. who no longer fights for whats best for "WE THE PEOPLE" but rather, whats best for "their party" (be they dems. or repubs.) and who cater to corporate America lobbiests who line our politians pockets with cash!!!!!
